| | angry | ] | I don't usually post about politics here. I figure everyone's got an opinion, and mine is the right one. ;) LOL But when something comes along that is so egregious it just frosts my cookies, I have to say something. [First, a small disclaimer - I am a Libertarian. My new favorite saying is "Political Correctness means always having to say you're sorry." I tend to subscribe to the theory behind the great Regan quote about liberals - "they know so much that isn't so." I believe in personal responsbility, freedom from government interference in our daily lives and that people should get off their lazy asses and do for themselves, not expect others (and especially government) to do for them.]
Censorship. Censorship in a country where the people revel in their freedom of speech should not be tolerated. But it most ESPECIALLY should not be forced upon the public or news media by political threats and intimidation. That's what the Communists did. That's what the Nazis and the Facists and every other repressive regime did (and does). That's not what Americans do. So why are the Democratic leaders in this Country threating ABC with political repercussions if ABC does not change it's docu-drama "The Path to 9/11"? First of all, it's NOT a documentary - it's a docu-drama, which means that some things are fictionalized and embellished for dramatic effect. Second - why are they so scared about this? Why are they so terrified that they have to threaten (politely, of course) that if the Dems regain control of the House & Senate that ABC's FCC license renewal could be in danger if ABC airs it? This is censorship at its very worst - with the power and malice of politics behind it. The Dems don't like how the docu-drama protrays the Clinton Adminstration, so they are going to supress it by whatever means possible. Some of the people so admantly opposed to this haven't even SEEN it (Madeline Albright, for example)! They've just "heard" about what happens and are sooooo offended that they don't want anyone else to see it and (gasp) judge for themselves. The Democrats attitude is so hypocritical it makes me sick. It's ok for Dan Rather to LIE on national TV in a NEWS program about forged documents and the sitting President, but it's not ok to air a docu-drama critical of the Clinton adminstration's handling of events that led to 9/11? It's ok for the New York Times to expose top-secret intelligence operation on the front page of it's newspaper, but it's not ok to theorize about the steps the Clinton administration took (or didn't take) about Islamic terrorism before 9/11? It's ok for world news organizations to blindly accept and publish as news photoshopped images specifically designed to promote the terrorist's agenda, and when they are pointed out by internet bloggers within hours of the pictures going online, utter a retraction so brief that if you blinked you missed it? Where was the Democratic outrage about the misleading actual news programs?
Censorship by the Democratic Party. It's sickening. It's disgusting. And it should not be tolerated by anyone who believes in the FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

| | drained | ] | Well, I have officially survived my first week of law school. *Whew* It is sooooooo radicallydifferent from any other type of school I have ever been to. Most of my professors seem pretty nice - knowing that all first years are fairly terrified and overwhelmed at first. However, there *is* a notable exception . . . . . .
So it goes. 3 more years of this. Tell me why I decided to do this again???? I figure I'll be updating fairly infrequently given my new workload. But I will try and keep up with any juicy Prof. Stephens stories should the masses care to hear them.

Hi strangers. I know it's been a while, but a LOT of crap has been going on in the warrior wench's life. SO let me tell you . . . . . no, there is too much, let me sum up . . . . . . .
1) I found a temporary part-time job at the Office of Legal Affairs for Georgia State University. This is good because a) the paralegal I'm replacing is on maternity leave and may possibly not come back at all; b) even if she does come back, they can either hire me on as a GRA OR help me find another position within the University and c) the other GRA in the office is a third-year, so even if I don't get the job this year, I'll have my foot in the door for next year, and if I get hired on as a GRA - my tutition is PAID FOR, plus I get a stipend. Which will definitely help in the money department, which brings me to . . .
2) I am also working at my friend GK's company, doing various marketing and paralegal duties. He has been very good to me since I lost my job and deserves MAJOR kudos. Anyone want to buy an acoustic panel?
3) I registered for my first semester of classes for law school, so it's official, even though I'm not quite sure how I'm going to pay for everything. Classes start Aug. 21, so I need to get the wild out of my system before then. Which means that there will be a poker night soon.
4) My "live-to-lounge" brother moved back down to ATL and is staying with me, SUPPOSEDLY to help me with the mortgage while I go to school. It's been 2 months and I have yet to see dime one. Oh, and he treats me like a maid/cook/waitress. So, as I already have enough stress for two people and don't need anymore, I am having to do the painful duty of kicking him out so he can go live with M&D. Anyone want a couch potato?
5) As a result of having to kick said moocher out, I am in the unfortunate position of *possibly* having to get a roommate. I'm not going to know if I absolutely need one until probably September, but if anyone knows anyone who needs a place, keep me in mind. *sigh* I really, really don't want to have to have a roommate. I promised myself when I bought the place that I'd only share it with someone I loved. Oh well.
6) On the bright side I had a date Friday night with a dreamy green eyed drummer who (mystifyingly) thinks I'm "hot". *grin*
Ah well, life isn't so bad. The next book in my favorite Anite Blake Vampire Hunter series came out today, lady_rose30 and her Sweetie are having a 4th of July thang, my best friends & my goddaughter are coming down to see me Friday and go see the Braves v. Orioles; I'm going to New Orleans next weekend to see an old friend, and another friend is finishing his tour of duty and coming home from Afghanstan in a week. I think my rollercoaster is headed up after that stomach dropping dip.
Much, much love to everyone who stuck with me, thought good thoughts and gave me MUCHO love & support through some of the crappest months of my freaking life. :)

I am a A Painted Dragon!
Hey, I took the http://dragonhame.com online Inner Dragon quiz and found out I am a Painted Dragon on the inside.
In the war between good and evil, a Painted Dragon tends to walk the fine line of Neutrality.... When it comes to the powers of Chaos vs. those of Law and Order, your inner dragon is a risk taker and answers to no one.... As far as magical tendancies, a Painted Dragon's nature does not lend itself well to the ways of Magic.... During combat situations, the Painted Dragon shows a preference for the rending and slashing of Hand to Hand combat.... Painted Dragons are the gypsies of dragonkind. They move frequently and spend much time in human form, socializing and partying.' While not truly evil, Painted Dragons have a flair for practical jokes that sometimes get out of hand. They are known far and wide for their troublemaking abilities. A dragon's idea of a good joke usually has dragon sized repercussions.' The Painted Dragon gains it's name from it's appearance. When one is seen in dragon form, it is garishly colored by every color and hue visible to the human eye (and some that are not visible except by magical means, and to other dragons). If you could tie-dye a dragon, you would have a painted dragon. ' This Dragons favorite elements are: Glass, Morning Glories, and Festivals
